Illinois Pole Vault Safety Lessons & Coaches Certification
Sponsored by ITCCCA & the Illinois Pole Vault Coaches Association.
National Pole Vault Hall of Famer Jan Johnson once again will
bring his expertise back home to the vaulters of Illinois. The
lessons are held at Maine South High School in Park Ridge and
at Bloom High School in Chicago Heights. For details, see http://www.skyjumpers.com/ and photos
for some photos from past years. Make sure you check out the photos
from the 2004 Elite Competition sponsored by Gill Athletics. Gill
brought in 8 (4 men and 4 women) world-class vaulters for the
weekend. What a thrill to see an 18+ foot vault in the fieldhouse.
The National Pole Vault Summit in Reno, NV
Sponsored by USC/Spirit and USA Track & Field. This is a wonderful
clinic and competition. Last year, over a thousand vaulters participated
including quite a few from Illinois. Check out: http://www.polevaultsummit.com/ for results and photos
and photos
for pics from the 2003 Illinois contingent.
Summertime Vaulting
Unlike just a few years ago, there are a number of places where
you can vault over the summer. Days, times, costs, and purposes
vary, so find a place that fits what you're looking for. We vault
at Maine South High School on Thursday evenings. We start about
5:00 pm and goes until it gets dark. The cost is $5 per session.
We run 3 pits for open vaulting; it's not a camp or a competition.
It's just a chance for you to vault. Call Jim at 847-392-7046
for more details.
If you host summer vaulting, email the
information, and I'll post it here.
